Frank Pearson is at the top of his game and has grown through the ranks of the criminal underworld. He has his seat at what is affectionately known as the 'Top Table'. He earned his place working the local pub & club doors in the '70s, and is now the undisputed king of the East Midlands and parts of Yorkshire. Frank is old school and a man of honour, who within the world in which he operates is a man of his word. If he shakes your hand on a deal, it's set in stone. He's the man who controls all organised crime in his part of the country, but he has an Achilles heel; his twin sons.
Daniel, his favourite and natural heir, is the one everyone says is a chip off the old block. Daniel behaves like his father. Richie, on the other hand has lived his life forever in his brother's shadow. He hasn't got what it takes. He knows it, as does everyone else. Frank despises him, blaming him for the death of their mother. Frank's one true love, Renee, who died in childbirth.
There can only be one heir to Frank. Only one can take over at the top. Frank does not see any of it coming, but it comes. He has no idea who is responsible, but has to face up to the truth. He has to face his demons and look at himself. Actions have consequences, and maybe, Frank is the one who is ultimately responsible - responsible for it being the wrong man.

"This is the second book off this author's that I have purchased and wasn't disappointed.
I was totally immersed into the characters & the struggles they went through & couldn't put the book down.
I took it on holiday and read it in 3 days. Thoroughly enjoyed it and felt very moved by the story of the mental & physical abuse that Anna suffered and the way the writer has portrayed it.
Look forward to his next book."
