Well, where do I start?
Probably best to start at the beginning, but to make sure this little section is nowhere near as long as my books, I’ll keep it rather brief.
Born in 1970, I spent most of my childhood in Mansfield, Newbury and Carlisle. I had a great time as a child. Great parents, who always made sure my sister, brother and I were well looked after and most importantly well loved.
I was a confident young fella, always front and centre who had bags of energy, and even as a young man was someone who always had my glass half full. I’ve spent most of my working life in sales, using that confidence and chat to make quite a successful career for myself.
One event that changed my life forever, though, was when I first set eyes on my wife Debbie. People sometimes say things like, ‘I just knew she was the one for me’, or ‘It was love at first sight.’ Well, I can honestly say I knew as soon as I saw her that I’d marry her. We married in 1994, and have two wonderful daughters Heather and Georgina, and three Grandchildren, with one more on the way as I write.
In June 2022, Debbie, and I made the move 471 miles north from Mansfield to Northern Scotland, to live in a lovely cliff top fishing village along the Moray Coast.
So, what about my novels you may ask? My writing came about after me saying for so many years that I’d like to write a book. As with so may others, it just never materialised. After deciding to leave full time work and take life a bit slower, Debbie persuaded me to put pen to paper and write what would become my first novel - The Wrong Man, and incidentally the first one in the trilogy; The Wrong Man, New Blood and Killing Shadows.
I’ve also been a funeral celebrant too. Something that allowed me to meet so many wonderful people, and help them at such a difficult time in their lives.
So, that’s me in a very small nutshell. The life of M J Elliott on one page.
I hope you enjoy the books. I've certainly enjoyed writing them, but whatever you do, if you do enjoy them, please let me know. It's always great to hear your thoughts.
Take care and look after yourselves
Michael
